An early Muromachi Ko Tosho tsuba, circa 1420 to 1440. A six hundred plus year old tsuba in like new condition. A very simple Muromachi ubu tosho tsuba, decorated with a single sukashi mon. 8.029 cm x 7.764 cm x 3.91 mm 4.26 mm tapering to 3.89 mm. Extremely dense plate. The entire surface covered with granular tekotsu. Wonderful color and condition. This was obviously well cared for in its day, and treasured by collectors thereafter. So many of these had hitsuana added to accommodate kozuka and kogai, that these ubu examples are hard to find. A serious collector's tsuba.
